10 Simple Words That Can Have a Significant Impact...

1. Help


Not necessarily help as in needing assistance, but as in helping someone else. This could be as simple as remembering to hold the door open for someone coming into the store behind you, or being a snow angel and shovelling your neighbours sidewalk for no other reason than you wanted to do something nice. Random acts of kindness help make everyone's day brighter.

  2. Smile


Just smile. Smile all day at everyone you see or meet. Watch the difference it makes when you make that brief eye contact and smile at someone. It's beautiful. :o)


 3. Gratitude


Find something every day to be grateful for, and share that appreciation. That person on the drive home who let you cut in front of them, did you remember to lift your hand up and wave a thank you to them? The cashier who scanned your groceries, did you say thank you? People like to know they are appreciated, even if it is something as simple as letting you in front of them on the drive home.

  4. Laugh


Find something every day that will make you giggle and laugh. If it's been that crappy of a day and you can't think of anything, go onto YouTube and search for cats. There are always crazy videos of cats that will make me laugh out loud until I am crying. It is the best cure for a bad mood. :o)



 5. Love


Tell someone you love them. Extra points if it is someone other than your children or significant other. Remember, love doesn't have to be romantic.




6. Dream


What are your dreams and wishes? In the craziness of our day to day life we so often forget our hopes and dreams. Take the time to write them down and then make a plan to help you reach those dreams. Remember, thoughts become things and nothing is impossible with tenacity and hard work.




7. Work


Speaking of tenacity and hard work...Whatever it is you are doing be it something as simple as tidying the house, your actual day job, spending time with your kids, work hard at it and put your absolute 100% best into it. A lot of us will do only what needs to be done to get by because we are busy and tired and feeling drained. Just for today, do it differently. Be in the moment and give it your all. Then note the differences and do it again tomorrow.




8. Beauty


Go look at yourself in the mirror right now and tell yourself 10 times that you are beautiful. Because you know what? You are. When is the last time you did something like that? Seriously. I mean it, go now and tell yourself you are beautiful. When you are done, tell someone else they look beautiful. :o)




9. Choice


Remember that your life is competely a result of the choices you have made. If you aren't happy with something, you can change it. Remember that in everything you say and do, you always have a choice.


As Denis Waitley put it: "There are two primary choices in life: to accept the conditions as they exist or accept the responsibility for changing them."




10. Live


I mean really live your life. Life is precious and so often it is taken for granted. I found this quote that seems to sum it up so perfectly:
