I Wonder What It's Like

Bookmark and Share

This past weekend we took an impromptu trip to Spokane, which is about 850 kms (530 miles). We drove through incredible mountain scenery, stopped for snacks at beautiful road side rest areas, and daydreamed about what it would be like to live there.

We imagined growing a garden for more than 3 months a year, or having enough space to have a horse for our daughter, or to sit in a claw foot tub gazing out the window at wild flowers blooming.

While in Spokane we stayed at the Oxford Suites which is on the river next to a stunning park with plenty of walking trails, incredible flora, and an old fashioned carousel. When traveling, we always make sure to stop at a playground when we come across one. At one particular playground we found ourselves surrounded by charming character homes with pristine yards full of mature colorful trees and fragrant flowers. Once again, we wondered what it would be like to live in one of those homes.

Upon further discussion, my husband and I wondered what areas of the city we live in would make visitors wonder what it would be like to live where we call home. We were surprised to be able to list 5 places right off the top of our heads. For young families there is a large park in a newer part of the city with a fantastic play area where the city is currently building a large splash park. There are many kilometers of walking/bike paths, especially along scenic coulees. The college grounds are lush and well maintained, making it a pleasure to take a break outside on a warm day and watch the geese with the kids.

By taking a few minutes to think about the places we love, we reminded ourselves of how lucky we are to live in a safe, green, and family friendly city. We are able to raise our kids with the help of good friends and many resources. How fortunate we are.

Please take a minute and tell us why others would wonder what it’s like to live in the place you call home.
