Let me see a show of comments if you participate in Earth Hour!

For those who may not know, Earth Hour is a global movement that began in 2007 with 2.2 million people and 2,000 businesses in Australia. By turning off all of the lights in your home or business, you are showing your support for a sustainable planet and taking a stand against climate change.

Since the very first Earth Hour in 2007, support has skyrocketed. In 2010, billions of people in more than 128 countries showed their support by participating in Earth Hour.

On Saturday, March 26 at 8:30pm (that is 8:30 your time, wherever you live), turn off your lights and do your best to not to use any electricity. Read a story to your kids by candle light. If your kids are already in bed by 8:30, have a glass of something delicious while talking to your spouse. Reconnect. Even better, treat yourself by going to bed early and turn one hour into 8 hours.

Watch the official Earth Hour video and then make sure you have enough candles in the house to get by for at least one hour this Saturday.

Support a sustainable planet. Participate in Earth Hour 2011.

Now, go to the bottom of this post and add a comment letting us know what you did for Earth Hour while your lights were out. What you did last year or what you'll do this year - we want to know! :)

  1. Last Year I read by candle light and this year I plan to play board games with my boyfriend by candle light!

  2. I love Earth Hour, we've done it before! Wasn't there talk about doing it for 1 month every week, or every month? I think people could do it more than just once per year.

  3. Melissa - that's a great idea!

HM,CW - I think it would be terrific to do it once a month - imagine how much stress to the planet it would relieve...
